Project Overview: Flemington Roof + Skylights + Gutters (Teak)
Completed at 9 Kentview Ct in Flemington, NJ 08822, this project upgraded the home with a new roof, skylights, and a full
gutter system—designed as one coordinated exterior package for long-term performance. Covering an approximate 5,700 sq ft
roof surface, the installation was finished with Owens Corning Duration TruDefinition® shingles in Teak, along with new
gutters and gutter guards to help manage water flow and protect roof edges.
Initial Concepts & Exterior System Planning
With multiple exterior upgrades in one project—roof replacement, skylights, gutters, and gutter guards—the planning phase
focused on clean integration. We reviewed roof planes, drainage patterns, and common transition areas to ensure skylight
details and gutter performance work together, especially at eaves, valleys, and roof-to-wall intersections.
In New Jersey conditions, reliable water management is everything. The goal was to build a watertight roof system, integrate
skylights with correct flashing transitions, and install gutters and guards that help direct runoff safely away from the home.
- Review of roof surface layout, drainage paths, valleys, and edge conditions.
- Skylight placement planning with proper flashing integration and water flow control.
- Gutter sizing and layout planning to support consistent runoff handling.
- Coordination of roof, skylight, and gutter details for clean, unified transitions.
Why This Was a System Upgrade (Not Just a Roof)
When a roof, skylights, and gutters are installed together, the details at edges and transitions determine long-term results.
Skylights require precise flashing integration, while gutters and guards must be aligned and pitched correctly to manage
heavy rain. This project was completed as a coordinated system so every component supports the next.
- Integrated skylight flashing and clean roof-to-skylight transitions for storm-ready protection.
- New gutters and gutter guards to help move water off the roof and protect the eave line.
- Consistent workmanship across a 5,700 sq ft surface for uniform performance and appearance.
- System-level detailing at valleys, edges, and penetrations to support watertight reliability.
Results & Homeowner Takeaways
The final result is a clean exterior upgrade with reliable protection and improved water handling. Owens Corning Duration
TruDefinition® shingles in Teak provide a warm, architectural finish, while the skylights add natural light with secure,
integrated detailing. New gutters and gutter guards help support consistent drainage and protect the roof edge line.
For homeowners planning a new roof with skylights and gutters in Flemington or nearby New Jersey communities, the biggest
takeaway is that coordinated installation matters—when the roof, skylight details, and gutter system are built to work
together, the home stays better protected season after season.
